A new Planet of the Apes movie is on the way, and it has added a big name to its cast. Deadline reports that William H. Macy, the Oscar-nominated actor known for Fargo, Shameless, and Boogie Nights, will appear in the next Apes movie, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

It’s unknown what character Macy will play. But the film is a continuation of the reboot series, picking up after the events of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes.

Macy joins a cast that already includes Freya Allan, Owen Teague, and Peter Macon. The Maze Runner director Wes Ball is directing Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

The first Planet of the Apes movie was released in 1968, starring Charlton Heston. Multiple sequels followed, before Tim Burton rebooted the series in 2001 with Planet of the Apes starring Mark Wahlberg. Another series began in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, featuring James Franco. Two sequels, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) followed.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is filming now in Sydney, Australia, aiming for a May 2024 release in theaters.
