A new gameplay trailer for Wild Hearts, Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force’s 2023 monster-hunting game, has been revealed at this year’s The Game Awards, showcasing a new Kemono beast, Golden Tempest. The Golden Tempest appears to be inspired by a saber-toothed tiger, with extra appendages sprouting from its upper torso.
Similar to Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, Wild Hearts tasks you with hunting down the ferocious Kemono beasts that inhabit the dangerous landscape of Azuma, and places a big focus on using technology and stylish combat to slay these gigantic creatures. Koei Tecmo directors Kotaro Hirata and Takuto Edagawa explained in a previous interview that Omega Force generated several prototypes of the game before the studio felt confident that it had struck the right balance for an experience that will feel both unique and universally appealing.

“When you’re making a hunting game, Monster Hunter is a huge presence in the genre, so we can’t say we drew on it for a strong inspiration, but it’s not like we didn’t know it was there while we were making our game,” Hirata and Edagawa said back in September. For more hands-on details, you can read GameSpot’s Wild Hearts preview, which describes the game as having several interesting ideas, such as the unique high-speed crafting Karakuri system that can be used to create technological advantages during your hunts.
Wild Hearts will launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 17 next year, and has been in development for four years at the studio best known for the Dynasty Warriors series of games.
